Rattlesnake Creek Campground – that’s what we call it anyway – is located just a few miles up-stream from Willow Creek Campground on the Middle Fork of the Boise River. It’s been a favorite place of mine to camp for many years. Being a dispersed campground there are no amenities to speak of, not even an approved forest service fire ring. In the beginning About me and Camping I started camping with my Dad when I was about five years old. Our first camping trip was backpacking in the High Sierras of Northern California, I haven’t stopped camping since. Of course through the years camping has evolved for me. Sleeping Platform Project The second large project for my trip is a sleeping platform for the back of my truck. As you can see it is a simple build. Consisting of a 2×6, 2×2’s and 3/4′ sanded plywood. Up front will be two lockable storage compartments for my extra accessory battery and vehicle equipment that’s not being used very often such as jumper cables, DC utility light and other useful items for maintenance. Softopper

A new way of camping I finally ordered the Softopper for my truck and installed it this weekend. This marks the beginning of my plans to get out and explore the National Forests, Parks and whatever adventure I decide to take on. I will right up a more complete review of the new setup later after I’ve used it a while, but first impressions are good so far.
